How it Works

Here is how it works:

  • So what does dpi mean… basically it is the dots per inch resolution of the digital image and it dictates what can be done with the image. Smart phones, tablets, digital photo frames and computer monitors max out at around 72 dpi and the digital information in higher dpi images is not needed and only serves to increase the file size and the bandwidth needed to view them. Inkjet and laser printers, both professional and personal, need 300 dpi images to give beautiful prints and higher dpi digital information is not needed and does not perceptibly effect the print. Higher resolutions, such as the 800 dpi resolution that I scan photos at, can be used to enlarge the image without decreasing the print quality.
  • Gather your pictures. The more organized you are with your pictures, the more organized I can be storing your images. If you send a box of loose photos, I will store all of the scanned images in one folder in no particular order on the storage media. However, if you send your pictures grouped together (with a rubber band or file clip or inside an envelope or ziplock bag) with a caption of what the group is, I will scan them in the order that you have them in and store each group of scanned images in separate folders with the names that you provide on the storage media.

How it Works

  • Pack your photos, slides, videos etc., snugly in a sturdy box. If you plan to ship via US Postal Service Priority Mail, you can get very nice and sturdy small, medium and large Flat Rate boxes for free at any US Post Office. Please write a note to put in the box or email me at info@digitallegacy.us with your complete contact information as well as telling me specifically what you want me to do including if you want your images on a USB Flash Drive.
  • Ship your box via your chosen delivery service to:

              Susan Tucker

              400 Sellers Mill Rd.

              Versailles, KY 40383

  • If you are in the local Lexington, KY area and would like to drop off your box personally rather than ship it, contact me at info@digitallegacy.us to arrange a time and place to meet (our driveway is intimidating and it would just be easier to meet at a convenient place).
  • When I receive your box, I will scan your images and/or transfer your videos as quickly as possible.
  • Once I am finished with your order, I will send you an invoice to the email address that you provided on the information sheet that you included with your items. Included in the invoice will be the return shipping charge via the same delivery service that you used. That invoice will contain a link that you can click on to pay via Venmo, PayPal or credit card. Alternatively, you can send a personal check or money order made out to Susan Tucker to the address shown above.
  • Once I receive your payment (and it has cleared our bank if you pay by a personal check) I will store your digital images on archive quality MDISC DVDs and USB Flash Drive (if requested), box them up along with all of your original items and ship them back to you via the same delivery service that you used.
