Slide and Negative Scanning

I will gently clean each slide or negative of any dust, debris and fingerprints and then scan them in one of two ways:

  •     Standard high resolution 2000 dpi scans will be done and this resolution will allow you, with the help of software such as Photoshop, to easily enlarge them for viewing and printing. For example, the 2000 dpi tiff image from a slide can be enlarged up to a 300 dpi, 6” x 9” image perfectly suited for professional or personal printing. You can also dramatically enlarge the image file but drop the resolution down to 72 dpi for viewing or sharing on your smart phone, tablet, digital photo frame or computer.
  •     If you need higher resolution for subsequent enlargement and printing, I can scan your slides or negatives at 4000 dpi. This resolution image can be enlarged up to a 300 dpi, 17” x 11” image perfectly suited for professional or personal printing. You can also dramatically enlarge the image but drop the resolution down to 72 dpi for viewing or sharing on your smart phone, tablet, digital photo frame or computer.

My goal is to provide digital versions of your slides or negatives in multiple formats so you can get the most enjoyment from them. After scanning your slide, digital images will be provided as a high resolution tiff file in the original size and scanning resolution of 2000 or 4000 dpi for enlargement and printing. They will also be provided as 6” x 4”, 300 dpi, high resolution tiff and jpeg files that will be easy for you to print on your own inkjet printer. Finally, they will be provided as a 6” x 4”, 72 dpi jpeg image that you can use for viewing or sharing on your smart phone, tablet, digital photo frame or computer.

I can also send them for prints (actual size or enlarged) or create a digital slideshow of your photos on a DVD or USB Flash Drive that you can play on your TV or computer.
